Jets from the Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier have been conducting airstrikes against ISIS in the past few days, including several airstrikes on Friday alone. The jets have been targeting ISIS in both Iraq and Syria and are part of the larger Operation Inherent Resolve, the US's operation to counter ISIS. The carrier recently had its deployment extended by a month to a total of 7 months, and has so far launched 1,110 missiles and completed 1,407 air missions. The timing of these missions is great for the Iraqi troops due to the ongoing campaign to recapture Fallujah. Hopefully these airstrikes will limit the reinforcements and response from ISIS during the battle of Fallujah.
