Child Abdution Recurring Problem in Rural China

Patrick Larson

A recurring trend in China exhibits a parent’s worst nightmare. Throughout China young boys are being abducted and sold off to other countries or within its own jurisdictions in attempt to fulfill parents dreams of having a boy, or to provide working hands when necessary (slavery). It is widely known that Chinese couples are highly discouraged by the government to having a single child and parents who consider themselves in need of a boy have resorted to purchasing abducted children to satisfy those needs. The article cites 4 particular cases in which boys have been kidnapped and also identifies a fearsome statistic; over a thousand children have been reported kidnapped never to be recovered by their parents in recent years. The reporter even locates a man who admits to purchasing a boy for $3500 in the last two years. This article has unearthed a problem in China that is worse in my eyes than prostitution, drug dealing, etc. Kidnapping and slavery must be halted before we send our World back to ways we demolished decades ago.
