President Obama recently wrapped up a summit involving the Organization of American States. Here, like he has done in so many other countries around the world, Obama has worked on cleaning up the image of the United States. He has opened negotiations and ties with countries that have carried feelings of distaste and distrust for the US for a long time. He is trying to renegotiate poor policies concerning Cuba which is especially important. The embargo in place has not succeeded in putting Cuba in a position to have to change their problems with human rights and government policies. What has more potential to work, is to open the lines of communication and come to equal terms with these countries. Doing that, the US can achieve successful relationships and disspell the negative image the US carries.
