Recently the U.S. Navy shot and killed three Somalian pirates in order to save Captain Richard Phillips, who was taken hostage after the pirates failed attempt to hijack his ship. Also the French military killed two Somalian pirates and a hostage in their efforts to free hostages who had been held by the pirates for a week on a yacht. The actions of the U.S. and the French military have highly upset the Somalian pirates according to CNN. A pirate named Abdullahi Ahmed told a Somalian journalist "We have decided to kill U.S. and French sailors if they happen to be among our future hostages". Also a pirate named Ali Nur told a Somalian journalist "From now on, after the killings by the U.S. and France, we will add some harsher steps in our dealings with hostages, particularly American and French hostages". Also he issued a warning to the U.S. stating "The killing of our boys was aggression, and the U.S. will see what they get from their operation". The U.S. military is fully aware that their actions to rescue Captain Richard Phillips may increase violence.
