Political Response to Pirate Action

By: Caroline Cristman
President Obama and the current administration received praise for their handling of the hostage situation as well as the following orders to take action if necessary to rescue the captain. The approved action to fire if necessary drew acclaim from Americans viewing the situation. While the benefits of saving the captain and transferring the situation to the judicial sphere are obvious, the political response to President Obama's actions are still unknown. A failed operation would have resulted in a political uproar, while the successful outcome still displays an unknown attitude. Now the situation is currently being reviewed and investigated by the Justice Department to decide further action.
