Somali Pirates Vow to Hunt Down, Kill Americans in Revenge

Somali pirates have vowed to seek revenge on American ships since the U.S. Navy attack on Sunday. The attack killed three pirates as a strategic move to encourage the release of captive sea captain Richard Phillips who had been held in exchange for his 19 man crew. Since, the pirates have openly admitted that they will be targeting American sailors and those captured will be slaughtered. Tuesday the pirates fired grenades at the American ship Liberty Sun and successfully damaged the ship. The crew managed to maintain safe in the ships engine room and the ship escaped. A pirate whose gang attacked the aid ship admitted Wednesday that his group was targeting American ships and sailors he stated, "We will seek out the Americans and if we capture them we will slaughter them," "We will target their ships because we know their flags. Today, 11 hijackers were detained in Kenya after a sea raid. They are being held at Nivose along with several other pirates awaiting prosecution. President Obama has vowed to take action against the threat of these pirates. Currently the Somali pirates have attacked close to 80 ships and hijacked 19 of them. They have been able to obtain more than $1 million per ship and crew and have already taken in over $150 million to date.
