While speaking at a ceremony honoring former President Ronald Reagan in Santa Barbara, California on February 6th, former Vice President Dick Cheney stated that Egyptian President Hosni Munarak is a good friend and US ally.
Although Mubarak is facing protests, the three decade leader will not relinquish power until September. Nevertheless, Cheney believes that the Egyptian President should be treated with respect and refuses to predict if his "friend" would step down because he does not know. However, Cheney does point out the fact that "there comes a time for everybody when it's time to hang it up and move on." Eventually the fate of Egypt will be decided by its people.
