In response to demonstration against the government, the King of Jordan fired his cabinet. While it is not the first time he has changed his government, it is the first time it has been done in response to public unrest. The Prime Minister Samir Rifai was dismissed and replaced with Marouf al-Bakhit, who served in this post before and is considered to by free of corruption by many.
The response to the change in government has been mixed. Many are relieved, but the Islamic Action Front rejected as being insufficient.
