Official: Restoration work begins on damaged Egyptian Artifacts

Feb 6. 2011

During the protests against the Egyptian government, damage has been done to the world renown King Tuts tomb. The main artifact that was damaged was to a statue that stood beside King Tut's tomb. Looters were said to have broken into the Egyptian Museum and then damaged multiple artifacts. A team of 11 members will work to get the artifacts back to their original state and the repairs should take 3-4 days. Zahi Hawass thinks this has come from the governmental problems in Egypt and also from the lack of money people have. She said people these days are scavenging for anything and took advantage of the museum for its low security.
