Catalonia Refuses to Halt Independence Referendum, Defying Spanish Court

Despite the Spanish government declaring the Catalonian referendum illegal, the Catalonian government has shown that they intend to go with the vote for independence. The central Spanish government has confiscated ballots, blocked electoral websites, and arrested local organizers. Catalan officials have even asked the European Union to interfere to prevent Spain's assault on democracy. The referendum is tomorrow and tensions continue to rise as it gets closer. The populations seems split fairly evenly on the matter, but a majority of people feel the people have a right to the vote.
