The President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, has banned the use of fire to clear the Amazon Rain Forest. He did this after scientists told him that the fires could be devastating to the fight against climate change. The Amazon Rain Forest is the largest forest in the world and it would be awful for the environment to burn it down for farmland. The forest creates "almost 20% of the world's oxygen" and it puts a lot of water into the atmosphere. However, Bolsonaro doesn't want any of the blame for the fires even though "he is known to be a pro-business president." To aid with the fire, he has "sent 43,000 troops to combat it" which will hopefully help bring the burn to a halt.
