The Chinese military rotated a new group of troops to Hong Kong. Amid protests, this rotation caused concern, but China claims that it was normal and the troops would continue to "safeguard Hong Kong's prosperity." China hopes a buildup of military forces will show that they are in control. The troops in Hong Kong are available to assist the city in maintaining public order, but they are yet to be called upon.
