Congress's great dynastic hope

This article talks about how Rahul Ghandi, son, grandson and great-grandson to India's greatest political dynasty, is the biggest hope for India's congress-led coalition government to stay in power, and possibly, in the future, lead without coalition. Congress was hoping that Rahul Ghandi's ancestry would give them the edge to win majority contol in many areas that are controlled by parties with localized interests. This is a giant gamble because, to do this, they need to gain politicial alliances within many states, but by doing this, they are betraying two large political alliances they already have. To make things worse for congress, the patterns within the past elections show that the sway that Ghandi's ancestry once had had been drastically diminished. Based onthis article, it seems that if they lose this gamble, they will probably never recover.
