U.S. to stay home from racism summit

This is weird. A candidate during the election that gave one of the most bold and eloquent speeches in race is now directly avoiding it. The Obama Administration has defended the decision by saying the draft text of the UN conference agreement unfairly criticized Israel and restricted free speech.

Deciding not to participate in a global conference seems counter-intuitive to Obama's goals of talking to those that the United States doesn't always see eye-to-eye with. This decision was strongly applauded by pro-Israel groups that have a lot of sway in Washington. Hmm...
