BBC posted an extremely bizarre article about how an 11 year old tried to smuggle in 74 cell phones into a jail. It's sad to think that someone so young could be put in the middle of trying to smuggle contraband (she also had a .38-calibre gun). While these stories rarely if ever make the top news story they can often cause major problems for prison officials. The problem of using young innocent children as smugglers is a shame. In the U.S. the problem is rampant as inmates consistently try come up with new ways of getting things in. A cell phone can't kill anyone, but it can spread the word out to have someone else killed. Cell phones can be used to intimidate another inmate's family who is being extorted. Bottom line is that cell phone smuggling and using small children as the means to do it is a problem. It's a problem that deserves more attention so that the kids of today will remember what it is to be a kid.
