Myanmar's Prime Minister becomes President.
Prime Minister Thein Sein was elected by the parliament of Myanmar to become the new president of Myanmar. These were the first elections in 20 years in Myanmar. Some believe the elections were fixed so that certain military personnel would win certain offices ,and it would just look like Myanmar is a democracy. International monitors were not allowed to overlook the elections so they could have been fixed. The military personnel elected also made significant changes to the constitution which gives the government more power. the opposition boycotted the elections because they felt they were not fair.
