The president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, announced today that he plans to start transferring the power from international forces to domestic forces in march. This transfer marks the beginning of a transfer that will occur over the next few years and the NATO security general Fogh Rasmussen said that he is hopeful that Afghanistan will be completely independent of outside military help by sometime in 2014. Karzai credits outside forces with restoring the stability of afghanistan over the past few years.
