A magnitude-5.6 earthquake jolted the South Island of New Zealand Monday afternoon, but there were no initial reports of major damage or injuries. The area that took most of the quake was 19 miles northwest of Wanaka. New Zealand is prone to earthquakes due to its location of the pacific so it was good that it did not cause any major damages because Wanaka is also a tourist attraction in the summer.
