Finally Some Good News: About 300 Women and Children Were Rescued in Nigeria

Caitlin Atkinson

Although it has been a difficult time for Nigeria, they finally have some good news. On Saturday May 2nd, 275 women and children arrived at a refugee camp after being rescued three days ago from Boko Haram by the Nigerian military. With the massacres and mass kidnappings that have been occurring in this country, it is nice to hear something optimistic happening. There has been no confirmation if any of the rescued were from the mass kidnapping that occurred nearly a year ago at a girls' school, but it is an important victory for the Nigerian government. This successful rescue mission inspires confidence in the Nigerian people for their government. It also gives them hope for the recovery of other women and children who have been taken.
