Syria's President Bashar Assad Defends Military Setbacks in Rare Appearance
The Syrian revolution started I think four years ago, and sadly it is not getting any better. Bashar Assad is the President of Syria, commander-in-chief of Syrian Armed Forces, General Secretary of the ruling Ba'ath Party and Regional Secretary of the party's branch in Syria. He became the president in 2000, after his father's death who has been the president for 30 years. Assad made an unusual public appearance, defending everything his military are doing in the civil war. During his visit to a school he stated that "We are today waging a war not a battle, and war is different than a battle." It does not look like the situation in Syria will get any better. But I hope that the whole world would stand together to help Syria, Palestine, and a lot of other countries.
