For the first time since June 9th, Australia has registered n new local cases of Covid-19. This comes months after Australia declared a state of disaster in response to an outbreak that saw up to 725 people testing positive for Covid-19. The city of Melbourne marked its 2nd day without any local cases. Since ending it's lockdown, the city has only seen seven new local cases. In early August, the region of Victoria was recording hundreds of cases a day. This prompted authorities to enact strict anti-epidemic measures that other nations have been hesitant to employ. Since then, cases have been declining leading to some of the restrictions being lifted. Authorities stated that more restrictions will be lifted if this trend continues.
