Could Israeli-Arab Peace Deals Spark an Arms Race?

After three states have signed diplomatic agreements with Israel, some have started to worry about a potential arms race developing. The United Arab Emirates, for example, is attempting to acquire a fighter jet from the United States. Already the strongest military power in the region, Israel would be sure to follow suit in the possible trend of weapons acquisition in the Middle East.

The United States is viewing this potential arms race as positive, as it would give more power to U.S. allies in the Middle East, and less to Iran--which is viewed by the U.S. as a global threat.

This is causing some unrest in Israel however, as when other states may begin to up their military power, Israel will no longer be the only state in the region with a powerful military.
