As of today, it is reported that about nine Colombian soldiers were killed in an attack allegedly by National Liberation Army (ELN) rebels. This attack followed peace talks between the ELN and the Colombian government, as the president plans to bring "total peace" to the country. It is, however, confirmed that seven of the nine victims were serving their compulsory military service, and there another eight were injured. Though there have been peace negotiations between the two sides, there has been no bilateral agreement on a ceasefire.
