The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, passed legislation to protect himself from being removed from office in the wake of protesters calling for his resignation. Protests in Israel continue over the judicial reforms that Prime Minister Netanyahu passed that limited the judicial power in the country. The new legislation states that only the Prime Minister himself or his cabinet can declare the leader unfit. Former Israeli Prime Minister Yair stated that the new legislation is "disgraceful and corrupt". The new legislation will need to be passed in Parliament. Protesters continue to call for the reforms and legislation to be repealed. Protesters are blocking streets and the Israeli Defense Force has been called into some areas to shut down the streets to civilians, in an attempt to stop the protests.
