An Acceptable Dictator?

From Muck: In a diplomatic memo leaked to a French newspaper over the weekend, the British Ambassador to Afghanistan predicted NATO failure in the military campaign against the Taliban in Afghanistan. However, most shocking was his suggestion that the best course of action would be find an "acceptable dictator" His exact quote:

Within 5 to 10 years, the only “realistic” way to unite Afghanistan would be for it to be “governed by an acceptable dictator,” the cable said, adding, “We should think of preparing our public opinion” for such an outcome.

In the text of the memo, British envoy, Sherard Cowper-Coles, expressed frustration with the widely accepted view that more troops are the answer for Afghanistan. He argued that “The presence of the coalition, in particular its military presence, is part of the problem, not part of its solution."
