A Bulletproof Mexico?

From Kurpalo
Mexico has a new line of bulletproof jackets hitting a small shop in the Polanco neighborhood. They have designer jackets that come in various styles for an expensive price. Most of the leather jackets cost thousands of dollars. This really shows Mexico's dire need for protection with the heavy drug trafficking, shootings, and other dangers. It is said that families and businesses in Mexico pay over $18 billion
for private security . These protective bulletproof jackets are actually selling amazingly well because people are afraid of what is happening in Mexico. Presidents Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and Alvaro Uribe of Colombia have themselves bought some. The typical shopkeeper, bullfighter, and politician wants to feel safe in a country where violence is increasing.

I think it is absolutely absurd that people feel that they need such expensive things to keep themselves safe. The thought of having to wear a bulletproof jacket just to feel secure in my own neighborhood would be overwhelming and unbelievable. I think the situation in Mexico definitely needs improving. Over 3,000 killings have occurred because of gang violence, killing innocent people. I can't get over this!
