Saudi hosts Afghan peace talks with Taliban reps
Thomas Andre: Who would expected the Saudi Arabian government to host talks with members of the Afganistan government and the Taliban? I would not have. King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has brokered peace talks directly in the city of Mecca. According to the article, negotiations have been going on for the past two years to bring both groups up to just this point. It also marks a change in Saudi Arabian policy, because in the past, the Saudi's usually went through Pakistan to communicate with Afganistan. It is good to see that more countries are taking additional non-violent steps in effort to bring more stability and peace to a region that is engulfed in sectarian violence.
