Plane Crash in the Hudson
US Airways Flight 1549 crashed into the Hudson River Thursday afternoon. The plane was in route to North Carolina from New York when one of its engines failed. A goose had apparantly been caught up in the engine causing engine failure to one or more engines. The pilot, Sullenberger, called the control tower warning that he did not have enough time to make it back to the airport and a crash landing was necessary. The pilot lined the plane up with the Hudson River and notified the passengers of the change in schedule. Due to the pilots experience the landing was a success. The pilot was the last off the plane to ensure that his plane of 150 passengers and crew members arrived safely to land. The crash landing caused much commotion and worry to arise, but do to the pilots quick thinking no one died in this terrifying ordeal.
