Why Isreal Can't Win

Amanda Dominguez

At this point, it is so secret that there is growing turmoil in the middle east. People are suffering and there is a growing sense of instability. The recent events in Gaza have made this apparent like ever before. This weeks Time Magazine article entailed Why Israel Can't Win explains that military force may not be the answer there may, after all, be a need for talks of creating separate states.
Time brings up that Arabs will soon out number Jews leaving them with the decision to live with an independent Palestinian state or watch themselves become a minority
Dealing with Hamas is Israels second problem. Because of the economic restrictions and growing human rights abuse, Hamas has said that they would agree to a truce if these economic sanctions were released. But the problems do not end there
Most Middle Eastern countries have never had strong relations with Israel. All peace talks with Israel have ceased and they are quickly loosing support and cooperation from moderate Arab states. Syria who had always been a supporter of Hamas spent part of 2008 in indirect peace talks, but after this they have cut off all communication.
Overall, it sounds as if there is much to be done, unfortunately tensions have been so high for so long that it is difficult to say if people in that part of the world will ever see peace. There are factors that say that there is not enough time to find out and something needs to be done now.
