On Sunday former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf announced that later this month he will be returning to his country alongside up to 500 of his followers, albeit the fact that he may be arrested when he enters the country. His return date is scheduled between January 27 and 30.
Pakistani officials have stated that he will be arrested due to his connection with the 2007 assissination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutta. In fact there has already been an arrest warrant issued according to the special public prosecutor assigned to the case. Nevertheless, Musharraf's atttorney states that the the threat of arrest is politically motivated, thus the warrant will be challenged in court.
Musharraf also intends to run in the Pakistani elections next year.
