Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who has recently been involved in several sex scandals and charges of corruption, recently appealed to the Constitutional Court for immunity from persecution while in office. He was denied his appeal for the second time, showing that even the country's highest officials are not above the law. Berlusconi argued that it would be better for him to be able to focus on his job as PM than have to focus on the three court cases he faces right now. Much of the country's opposition party continues to call for Berlusconi to step down from his office, but he refuses.
