On September 28, 2009, there was an attack and massacre of approximately 150 or more Guinea opposition protesters in a stadium. There is said to have been mass rape of women, too. The international community, primarily France, is pointing a finger at the Guinea military leader, Captain Moussa Dadis Camara. The militants carrying out the massacre are said to be Camara supporters. However, Camara is denying any accusation of having ordered the killings and advisors close to the leader feel that he is a victim of international "political and media 'lynching.'" The international community by and large is arguing that he is not fit to lead the country and is preventing the progress in the democratic transition.
