Food shortages loom over flood-hit south India

Millions of poor villagers across southern India are going to be facing food shortages as a result of months of intense drought and devastating dorught. These natural disasters have destroyed 642,000 acres of crops so far and at least 220 people were killed in Karnataka and another 63 in Andhra Pradesh. Grain production has plummeted by 900,000 tons so far has is projected to keep dropping. Aid and relief workers are having a hard time starting prograns because weeks of torrential downpours had 1.5 million people depending on a relief camps before being able to return to their homes. These floods and droughts came at an imperative time to the worker's harvesting and now their farmer's have nothing to shwo for the year. All of their crops are ruined and inedible and the people are now facing starvation by the million.
