Despite Obama snubbing the leadership of Honduras, Jim De DeMint, a republican senator from south carolina, is attempting to open up diplomacy in Honduras. Currently the U.S. has sided with the ousted president Zelaya. There is much controversy in how to handle diplomacy in Honduras, because many in the U.S. goverment and congress do not agree with DeMint's current appraoch.
Government officials in Honduras express discontent with the fact the Obama administration has snubbed them off, and much of the diplomacy will have to focus on building a relationship with the next president. This relationship is critical, for there is fear that advocates of Hugo Chavez-who is very anti American, may influence some of the people and officials in Honduras, leading to an unfavorable outcome for the U.S.Greg V
