Obama Seeks to Ease Rules on Questioning Terror Suspects

A new exception to the Miranda Rights will be made for terror suspects. The Obama Administration supports a law which would allow alleged terrorists to be interrogated before a necessitation of the Miranda Rights. The Miranda Rights, in a nutshell, ban prosecutors from using information gathered from a babbling suspect before he or she is told of the right to a lawyer. The new law would, in turn, allow for the use of that evidence. The idea of throwing out Miranda Rights for terrorists has come up in the past, in 2000 it was struck down by the supreme court 7-2, but returned to the spotlight in response to the Time Square bomb attempts.
