Typhoon hits Japan

Early on Thursday morning a class 1 typhoon named Typhoon Melor hit Honshu, Japan. Melor is the first typhoon to hit the country in a little more than two years. In it's wake, Melor took the lives of two people, injured 114, and swept one person away (that person is still missing). The typhoon also shut down most of Tokyo's main train systems, and cancelled roughly 510 national and international flights at the Narita, Chubu, and Kansai Airports collectively. Melor hit the Chita Peninsula at 5:00 A.M. at winds raging at an estimated 144 kph making it the one of the strongest typhoons seen in the area in the past decade. However, information on Melor is still developing due to the carnage it has created this past Thursday. This bit of information could only be pieces of what destruction the typhoon has created. The typhoon is also said to have created several tornadoes in the Ibaraki Prefecture of Tsuchiura. The tornadoes have damaged 50-60 homes as reported by the local police.
