According to BBC News Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao is taking a trip to North Korea. On the schedule is speaking with leader Kim Jong-il in hopes of bringing North Korea back into the six-party nuclear talks that China hosts.
Of the six nations involved ( the others being the United States, South Korea, Russia and Japan) China is North Korea's biggest trading partner. It is hoped that this might help sway the communist nation which has already stated it may be willing to resume talks.
The United States previously employed a policy of not being willing to engage in bilateral or multilateral talks outside of the six party talks but perhaps with the new of administration this may change as was seen by President Bill Clinton's visit to North Korea a little over a month ago.
