Emmanuel Macron calls for "EU renaissance" ahead of polls
Posted by Olivia Acanfora
The president of France, Emmanuel Macron, has proposed multiple EU reforms in order to ensure its future. In an open letter addressed to the citizens of Europe he exclaims that the EU needs some changes to prevent other member countries from retreating into nationalism ( like Britain did with Brexit). He proposes the creation of several new bodies to do new things like ban foreign funding, protect against cyber attacks, set a minimum wage, and reach environmental targets. Macron concludes his letter saying that " we can't let nationalists with no solutions exploit people's anger" and that "we can't sleepwalk to a diminished Europe... European humanism demands action".
