UN Security Council Double Veto on Venezuela

In the article "Inside the UN Security Council's double veto on Venezuela," written by Richard Roth for CNN details the UN's action to vote for the best possible resolution for the conflict in Venezuela regarding its president. The UN meeting was held this past Thursday in New York City with the outcome decision being debated between United Kingdom, France, and the United States against China and Russia. The decision was regarding the recent Venezuelan elections, with the United States saying the election of the Russian backed Nicolas Maduro was rigged, and not fair. Also, it discussed the recent blockade along the Colombian border preventing humanitarian aid from getting into the country. During the meeting the Russian Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia, claimed the United States was saying the election was unfair to implement their own government into Venezuela. When the vote came to proclaim who was the correct president of Venezuela, both China and Russia used their veto power. After the vote occurred, and the results were discussed, the Russian Ambassador said the vote was a "political show and misadventure." Hopefully, this vote carried out in the UN will help resolve some of the conflict and Venezuela, and get some aid finally into the country for the citizens.
