Months before the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse was on his way to fight against drug trafficking in his country. Right before his assassination, he had been confiding with powerful politicians and businesspeople to fight against drug crimes and trafficking. It is believed that the motive for his assassination was because of the threat drug traffickers felt when Moïse’s announced his plans. The night he was assassinated, his wife recalls that the men were digging through his files and paperwork, frantically looking for specific documents. What we can all take from this is the control and power most narco-traffickers have on the government itself and the people.
