Taiwan has stated that they will not back down to China when making relations. China said a day earlier that they are hoping for a "Peaceful Reunification" with Taiwan. Taiwan followed this not only with their statement about not backing down, but also a military parade to flex their muscles and say that they have the capability of defending themselves if need be. I believe that Taiwan is dealing with this situation in a good way because generally in international relations, if a small nation gives China an inch, they will take a mile so to speak. With that, if I were the leader of Taiwan, I would do the exact same thing, even knowing that we would not even be comparable to China in military might, that doesn't mean that China would want to conduct war. At the same time, China's economy would take a lot smaller of a hit from war relatively compared to Taiwan, so peacefully working this out would be the best decision for both sides.
