Julian Assange is currently being held in London in their high security prison. Assange has been indicted by United States prosecutors for 17 counts of espionage and one computer misuse charge. All of these charges are related to leaked military documents pertaining to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Earlier in the year, a lower court in London denied the American court request for the extradite of Assange to face these charges. This request was denied on the basis of health concerns for Assange. It was believed that if Assange were to be extradited to the US he would commit suicide under the harsh US judicial system. However, after US assurances, the high court in London granted the US request for Assange, claiming that these assurances were enough to guarantee that he would be treated lawfully.
