Military drills were conducted in Japan last Monday. These drills consisted of multiple tanks and soldiers firing explosives and machine guns on Hokkaido, a northern island of Japan. This was done to showcase Japan's military might in front of the media. While these drills were simply firing exercises conducted by the country's Self Defense Force, the military power that Japan holds is arguably understated by the global community. Which is all the more reason Japan wanted to present their military firepower in response to the concerning escalation of China's and Russia's military around Japanese territory. However, concerns have risen within its own nation regarding the idea of building up Japan's military given the pacifist nature of the society and the painful past of a military build up from World War II in the country.
