New Zealand is proposing a law that will ban the sale of tobacco products to anyone born after 2008. I find this to be a very interesting concept that would benefit the health of any countries citizens. The goal is to stop health problems due to smoking from occurring by not allowing any new smokers to start. Nicotine abuse is becoming an increasing problem among kids in recent years. Usage is higher and nicotine levels are higher in products as well. Something like this has little chance of being passed in the US because of the tobacco industry's economic power here. There is hope that more legislation around the world could move in this direction and provide a brighter future.
