Covid has been making major headlines again lately. This time with a new variant, Omicron. Germany’s answer to this has been barring unvaccinated people from most of public life. The only people allowed out right now are the vaccinated and those who are recently recovered from Covid. The Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, has also added that vaccines may become mandatory by February. Germany is going through its fourth wave of Covid, with there being 388 deaths in the past 24 hours. Germany has a rather low rate of vaccinations compared to other European countries at only 68.7%. There have been 79 confirmed Omicron cases in European countries and experts say these cases are typically coming from Africa.
