Why France faces so much anger in West Africa

During Emmanuel Macron's presidency, France has strived to positively influence and support Africa's continent. Macron acknowledged the significance of France's history of colonialism on the continent of Africa while also returning Africa's stolen artifacts. He has also helped countries facing civil wars and extremists. It is allegedly claimed that France has been positively engaging in west Africa's politics, but why the criticism and the popularity decline?

The first issue facing francophone counties is the abolition of the CFA franc. CFA is a currency used by these counties, and it's pegged to the euro(only printed in France). Abolitionists say that France uses the currency to control the counties' economies. However, France claims that it guarantees economic stability. The other issue is that France has a sense of neo-colonialism arrogance in francophone counties--feeling that France is an inevitable country that rules over west Africa's politics. And lastly, failure to overcome Jihadists in the Sahel region.
