The Italian coastguard is working to save at least 400 migrants adrift in the Mediterranean Sea between Italy and Malta. This is a an immigration route that has been noted as particularly dangerous. The boat carrying the 400 migrants has been stranded for at least 24 hours and is at risk of capsizing. Three rescue operations involving multiple vessels have been working to assist the people on board the stranded boat.
