De-mining experts have become critical to the war in Ukraine. Russia has begun placing numerous traps to injure or kill Ukrainian soldiers. Weapons like mines, trip wires, and grenades are hidden in field and forests placed specifically to harm. As Ukraine moves to push Russia back from Ukraine, they have to make sure that there aren't any hidden traps in their paths. An area four times the size of Switzerland is set up with traps to injure or kill. Hundreds of civilians are being injured or killed by these traps. Clearing the mines is estimated to cost around $37 billion. De-miners probe the ground with fiberglass rods to find the traps.
