Saudi and Iranian foreign ministers meet in Beijing

The foreign minsters from Saudi Arabia and Iran met in Beijing this past week, cementing a shift in approach for both nations. They reportedly each signed a joint agreement. This agreement was about the reopening of their countries to each other, with promises to reopen their embassies and consulates and allow access between their nations. China assisted in the negotiation of this agreement, boosting their role in the Middle East. This deal has repercussions in the Middle East, potentially calming some power disputes in the area. It also creates further discussions of China's relationship with the Middle East. With the United States attention drawn to other areas of the world, their immediate power in the area is waning slightly.
