Obama adviser: Afghanistan in no immediate danger of falling

Matt Boguslawski

According to the National Security Adviser James Jones to President Obama, "There is no immediate danger of Afghanistan falling to the Taliban". He claims that Afghanistan is in no danger of having the Taliban return to the country, saying, "...I want to be very clear that Afghanistan is not in danger -- imminent danger -- of falling". Just recently President Obama received from General McChrystal the US Commander of Afghanistan a request of 40,000 additional troops to be sent to Afghanistan. McChrystal warns that without the surge of troops to the country the Taliban can retake Afghanistan. President Obama has still not decided on General McChrystal's assestment and surely this advise from his National Security Adviser will play in greatly.
